Let’s begin….

1. Practice Gratitude

Appreciating little things in your life helps shift your focus from worries and concerns and makes you more aware of the things that you are grateful for.

When you are upset, feeling down or even overwhelmed just reach out for little things that will instantly bring a smile to your face.

Appreciate those little things, those little moments that will bring you joy.

2. Be A Kid Again

Remember how carefree we all used to be when we were kids!

Be that kid for some time, this will instantly lighten your mood, raise your spirit, and be carefree and playful.

Do silly things, get wet in the rain, run on the grass, get your hands dirty in soil, play on the sand, and dance like no one is watching you.

Doing these playful carefree things feels incredible and will boost your energy, and bring joy and a big smile to your face.

You will get that little glimpse of what it’s like to be a carefree kid again.

3. Plan Something Exciting To Look Forward To

This simple planning doesn’t have to be something huge like a trip or purchase or throwing a party.

Something just as small as planning an outing this weekend or planning to go on a dinner date with your partner or just a peaceful evening by the beach.

Have something that when you think about it gets you excited and makes you happy.

Just the anticipation of planning something small and looking out for is more than enough to bring joy into your life.

You can make weekly, monthly or yearly plans that make you excited to look forward to that event.

4. Celebrate Little / Small Wins

Little wins every single day or every other day boost your self-esteem.

Set some mini goals for yourself and try to achieve them. Once accomplished, pat yourself on your back and celebrate that wins along the way.

By doing so, you will realize where you are and where you want to be.

For example, I used to have a messy drawer which I kept putting off organizing.

It may not seem like a significant task to tidy up such a small space, but the clutter was a constant annoyance, occupying valuable space and impacting me mentally.

However, when I finally got around to decluttering it, it lifted a mental weight off my shoulders and felt incredibly satisfying.

But tackling that single small drawer was a winning step for me.

Celebrating these small victories is important, as these little accomplishments accumulate over time and contribute to daily joy and happiness in life.

Also, don’t forget to reward yourself after these small wins.

5. Surround Yourself With Items That Bring You Joy

Surround yourself with the things that make you happy, belongings that bring you joy that mean something special to you.

It can be a picture frame, a diary, a plant which was given to you by someone special or a book that brings a smile to your face.

It’s such a unique approach to know how much joy some of our belongings can bring us.

Usually, we see ourselves surrounded by so much clutter, so much stuff that keeps piling up that we rarely distinguish which items are really worth it and which are not.

Once you surround yourself with the thing that brings you joy, donate the excess.

Have belongings/possessions around you which put a smile on your face.

Things that make you feel good are the things you need to surround yourself with.

6. Get Dressed

Nowadays many of us work from home and may not have any reason to dress up for work.

But just once in a while, put on your favourite dress, put on some minimal makeup, tie your hair properly, and wear your favourite jewellery piece cause it’s going to lift your spirit and put you in a good mood.

Wear something comfy that makes you feel good and a little bit ready for the day. Getting ready even though you are working from home can make a huge difference in how to feel.

Just do it for yourself.

7. Connect Yourself With Mother Nature

Go out and immerse yourself in nature.

Gaze at the stars in the dark sky, watch the sunset by the beach or by the mountains, hear the birds chirping, walk through a forest, and visit a waterfall.

The endless beauty of nature has such a calming and soothing power on all of us.

Relish the beauty of nature that it offers and take time to find joy in it.

I love to walk on the beach barefoot and hear the sound of waves hitting the land and the wind gushing.

Nothing brings me more joy than this.

8. Laughter Is The Best Medicine

Laughter has proven to have positive effects on our overall health.

Watching a comedy movie or television show not only reduces stress and anxiety by it improves your mood too.

Apart from watching movies or TV shows, hang out with people who make laugh and make you feel good.

Whenever I’m feeling depressed or down, I turn to my favourite feel-good shows on Netflix that are light-hearted and always make me laugh uncontrollably

9. Find Activities Or Hobbies That Bring Joy To You

Indulge in the hobbies you love the most. Maybe there are hobbies that you might have neglected in the past or have hardly indulged in.

Hobbies are wonderful ways that bring us genuine joy and happiness at that very moment.

Hobbies are therapeutic.

They allow you to focus on the things that you truly love. Indulging in your favourite hobby makes you relax and be at peace. It’s like meditation for the soul.

I love to read books and cook new recipes. It feels nice to be able to accomplish something that is tasty and enjoyed by everyone.

10. Learning to Appreciate the Little Things in Life

Learning to appreciate the little things in life is a valuable skill that can significantly enhance your overall happiness and contentment.

We generally overlook little things that make us feel happy even in our day-to-day life.

Practicing Mindfulness, Gratitude, Savouring Experiences, Practicing Kindness, and Slowing Down are some of the small things we need to appreciate.

Life has become so much busy that we do not appreciate little things and tend to ignore them as they seem to be just a part of our lives.

Remember, appreciating the little things is a habit that takes time to develop.

Be patient with yourself as you practice these strategies. Over time, you may find that this new perspective not only brings more joy into your daily life but also enhances your overall sense of well-being.

11. Focus On Yourself

In this digital world of ours, we are bombarded with so much social media content that sometimes it has a huge negative impact on us.

Being human beings we all have a tendency to compare ourselves with others which just steals all our joy.

When we compare ourselves with others we are focusing more on other people than ourselves.

It’s crucial to consciously direct your attention towards your well-being, rather than getting absorbed in the lives of others online.

Focus on your own life goals and ambitions, rather than fixating on the lives of people you hardly know.

Focus on yourself, focus on your life and never compare yourself to others. As they say, comparison is the thief of joy. So be you!

These are some of the small little ways I have found joy and happiness in simple things.
